Yearning for Learning
Intelligent people are always ready to learn. Their ears are open for knowledge.
PROVERBS 18:15
SUMMER’S GREAT—no school, right? We all love a break!
But learning is one of the most wonderful blessings God sends our way. And learning doesn’t relate to school as much as we might think. We begin learning from the time we’re still in our mother’s belly—learning to recognize the sound of her voice, learning to swallow. And, if we’re wise and we follow what the Bible advises, we keep learning until we’re old and facing the end of life.
God wants us to seek knowledge always because he knows it makes us wiser. And that doesn’t mean spending every spare second studying math or science or a language. Learning comes from all the experiences we have in life, including getting along with others, understanding life in deeper ways, and getting to know who we are individually.
Yes, learning does happen in school. But some of the greatest lessons we’ll ever learn don’t happen in a classroom—they happen when we open ourselves to new experiences and ask God for wisdom and guidance. There’s an entire world of things out there for us to learn about—so don’t miss the chance!

What’s something you’d like to learn more about? Maybe you’re interested in time travel or wish you knew more about trains. Whatever it is, spend some time today learning about the topic.
PRAY
Dear God,
Thank you for giving me a brain designed to learn. Please remind me of all the ways I can learn outside of a classroom. Help me find ways to learn more every day. Amen.
