Esther the Brave
Esther went again before the king, falling down at his feet and begging him with tears to stop the evil plot devised by Haman the Agagite against the Jews.
ESTHER 8:3
DO YOU KNOW ESTHER’S STORY? She was a Jewish orphan who became a queen. When she learned of a plot to kill all the Jewish people, she decided to fast and pray and then go to the king and ask him to save her people. The key was that the king didn’t know Esther was a Jew, and she didn’t know how he would react. He could have decided to kill her as well as her people.
Esther’s story is one of bravery. She knew she was risking her life, but she did it anyway. But why not keep quiet and save her own life? Because she knew she had to do something. She also knew she needed God’s help to do it.
When have you had to be brave? There are times in life when we all must look inside ourselves and ask whether we have the guts to do what needs to be done. Those can be hard times. But like Esther, we can confidently trust that God will help us. Talk to God about the situation, then do what you know is right. You may still feel afraid as Esther did, but being brave is never the wrong thing.
