Love You Anyway

Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.

1 CORINTHIANS 13:7

HERE’S A TOUGH QUESTION: What do you think it means to love someone?

How do you know your parents love you? Or your grandparents? Or your friends and other family? How do you know God loves you?

Love is one of the best things about being human. We have so many people, places, pets, and tons of other things to love. We can look at the beauty in nature and the people around us and see signs of God’s love for us. And when we choose to, we can spread and show love every day.

When we love others, it means we put up with their quirks and annoying habits. It means we love them anyway. You’re probably not perfect, but your parents love you anyway. Your dog may chew up your books or get fur on your bed, but you love him anyway. It’s about deciding that no matter what, you’re going to choose love. Why would we choose to love others, warts and all? Of course: because God loves us—anyway.

DO

What are ways others have shown you they love you anyway? Maybe your mom still gives you a hug even though you’re grounded. Or your sister still shares her candy with you even though you called her a four-eyed bun head. How can you show someone in your family that you love him or her anyway?

PRAY

Dear God,

Thank you for loving me anyway, even when I’m annoying or grumpy or hard to take. Please remind me to love others anyway too. Amen.
