Friend to the End

Never let loyalty and kindness leave you! Tie them around your neck as a reminder. Write them deep within your heart.

PROVERBS 3:3

WHO’S YOUR MOST LOYAL FRIEND? Why do you think that person is loyal to you?

You might be thinking of a friend or someone in your family who always has your back, who always looks out for you, and whom you trust completely. Having loyal people in our lives is a great blessing because we know they truly care about us.

Who are you loyal to? What does it mean to you to be loyal? If someone were saying mean things about your best friend, would you stick up for her? If you had the chance to help your friend by telling others about his great qualities, would you? If you knew your friend didn’t like sweet potato fries, would you ask your mom not to fix them at your next sleepover?

God shows us what true loyalty is. He tells us the truth, he loves us all the time, he’s always there for us, and he even sent his Son, Jesus, to die for us so we could be with him forever. We can thank God for being our greatest loyal friend. And we can thank him for sending loyal people into our lives.

DO

What’s your best friend’s favorite song? Listen to it. How do you know it’s your friend’s favorite song? What else do you know about your friend? Listen to the song again, and as you do, think of ways you show loyalty to your friend.

PRAY

Dear God,

Thank you for being the greatest example of loyalty ever. Thank you for the people in my life who are loyal to me. Please help me be a loyal friend and family member. Amen.
