Everyday Prayers

I am praying to you because I know you will answer, O God. Bend down and listen as I pray.

PSALM 17:6

THERE ARE TIMES WHEN we just need to stop everything and pray. There may be chaos happening around us—or nothing at all. We just need to take a breather and talk to God. And that’s the great thing about prayer: we can do it anywhere at any time. God is always ready to hear from us.

Prayer calms us in crazy situations. It gets our anger under control. It helps us sort out problems. It reminds us of how incredible and kind God is. It brings us closer to God as he hears our hearts and we hear him. Prayer is our pipeline to God, our most direct way to connect with him. It soothes our minds and hearts because we know we can trust God and he wants the best for us.

Here’s another thing about prayer: it makes God happy when we talk to him. It’s like when your best friend calls you up or you get to talk to your grandpa for the first time in a while. Prayer lets us stay close to God. We can pray throughout the day, every day. The more, the better.

DO

Look at a calendar or planner for the next week. When is a good time for you to pray? At night? During lunch? In the morning? Write a prayer plan on each day for when you’ll pray, and then follow through.

PRAY

Dear God,

Thank you for listening to every prayer of mine. Thank you for wanting to hear from me. Please remind me that I can pray to you anytime, anywhere, for any reason. I love you. Amen.
