ACKNOWLEDGMENTS

This project combines most of my passions, from computer technology, covert ops, and weapons, to martial arts, aviation, and international travel. I consider myself damned lucky to be able to enjoy so many interests, and I feel blessed to be able to bring them all together through my greatest passion: the love for the written word.

As with all of my previous efforts, this one came to fruition with the help of a handful of wonderful and talented individuals:

My wife, Lory, my first line of defense against embarrassing myself. Thank you for your unconditional love, friendship, and support. None of this would have been possible without the sacrifices that you make so I can craft these stories. You are indeed the wind beneath my wings.

My son, Cameron, a newborn baby when I began writing in 1989 and now a teenager learning to drive. Your mom and I love you and are very proud of your accomplishments, disposition, moral values, and positive outlook on life.

Tom Doherty, for believing in my work, for continuing to publish my stories, and for all the personal attention during my yearly trips to New York. You are a writer’s dream publisher.

Bob Gleason, my insightful and loyal editor and friend, for taking a chance with me way back when, and for demanding the best books that I can write while also giving the latitude to explore.

Matt Bialer, my astute and very personable agent, for supporting me through twelve books, two publishing companies, and four literary agencies.

My parents, Rogelio and Dora, for your support and love through the years.

My in-laws, Mike and Linda, for loving me as your own.

My sister Irene, her husband, Julio, and their wonderful kids, Julito, Paola, Rogelito, Eddie, and Juan Pablo, for your love and your hospitality during my visit to El Salvador in 2004. What a wonderful memory trip that was.

My sister Dorita, her husband, Lorenzo, and their wonderful kids, Lorenzito, Maria Eugenia, and Juan Carlos. I will make it down to Venezuela one of these days to visit you.

My young brothers: Michael, Bobby, and Kevin. Keep following your dreams.

As I write this, I’m celebrating my twenty-second anniversary at Advanced Micro Devices, the place I call my second home. What a ride it has been. My gratitude goes to all of my AMD colleagues for so many incredible years of excitement, friendship, and technical excellence.
