This emulates the plastic lens of the old popular “Diana camera” from the 1960’s (and more recently, the kinds of hipster retro cameras found at http://shop.lomography.com/en/cameras ). So where would you use these effects? Check out these examples. It’s all a bit of fun really as a part of playing round and being creative. Try shooting green trees with the green color cast, and a sunset with ‘magenta’ or ‘warm’, to see what happens.
Figure 6-55: Toy Camera examples. I can tell you, on a big screen, it is actually an interesting effect – whereas, without a doubt, the actual subject is just plain boring. |
Figure 6-56: Pop Color (left) can be surprising when you turn it on a colorful subject. To save bad light, try posterization-ing (right). |
Figure 6-57: Retro. Have a hankerin’ for the good-old-days? Try Retro mode, which makes the image look like a faded color print from the ‘70’s. |
I find Partial Color and High Contrast Monochrome to be the most useful of these effects so far.
