Cleo's Crib.
Cleopatra
Oh no! Oh God! “I hope it's not what I think it is,” I thought laying in my bed half sleep, half awake. OMG! I pushed back my silk sheets and flew into the bathroom almost tripping over my clothes scattered close by my bed from last night. I made it just in time to the toilet. I fell down on my knees and began to vomit my guts out. At least that's what it felt like. Sharp pains were beginning to form like a tropical storm in my stomach. I began to sweat profusely even though the air conditioner flourished through my condo.
I vomited so much my throat hurt. I was nervous. When I thought I was done I crawled to my bed and felt around for my phone. I went to my contacts and pushed Kandice's name and put it on speaker. “Kandice listen, I'm scared girl. I'm vomiting, my stomach hurts and I’m dizzy I think something is wrong,” I said talking really fast like I do when I get scared. I felt another load of vomiting coming so I crawled to the bathroom with my phone in one hand. I heard a light chuckle at the other end, “You did have quite a few shots of Smirnoff Vodka, Tequila, Grey G-,” the voice said.
“Okay I get it!” I snapped. “Baby girl, your Nigerian accent really shows when you’re scared. I think that's cute.” I smiled and I knew automatically it was Messiah. “Oh, my bad. I didn't mean to call you. I'm sorry I have to go.” I said nervously about to hang up the phone.
“Don't be embarrassed baby girl. It happens to the best of us.” Messiah said. “I guess.” I said lifting myself up off the cold bathroom tiles and sitting on the toilet. “First timer?” He asked. “Yes. I was scared and I thought I was about to meet Glory.” I said. He laughed.
“Is you okay now? Because if you’re not, I can come over and help you get better.” He said.
“Nice try playa, playa. I'll be straight. I'm a Gee. I'll just take some aspirin for the stomachache. Besides, I'm looking rough.” I said.
He laughed again. “I saw you looking rough before girl; like a troll as I remember.” He replied.
I gave a light hearted chuckle. “Nah nigga. Not even on my worst day. Ask your thot about me.” I said making my voice deeper trying to imitate a man.
“I see you got jokes. I don't love these thotties.” My stomach growled loud. “You hungry Cleo?” He asked. “Very,” I said rubbing my stomach.
“Well tame that mess on your head, wash your booty, oh and please brush those choppers because I don't want to smell no morning breathe while we talking. I'll be by to pick you up in 30 minutes.” He said.
“Every day my nigga and you don’t even know my address.” I said.
“I'm sure you bout to give it to me though.”
I gave him my address and we said our goodbyes until we saw each other in the next thirty minutes. I picked out something cute but simple to wear to have breakfast with Messiah. My light denim vest with my short strawberry red sundress, black and gold spiky necklace and black flats was what I chose. I went to take a quick shower, came out and threw my dirty clothes in the hamper. I grabbed my strawberry scented lotion and rubbed it all over my body. I put on scented deodorant, my undergarments and my clothes. I sprayed some Love Sick perfume on and added some bright red lipstick to make the outfit pop more.
“Here I come,” I said answering my phone before taking it off the charger. I got in the car and he was bumping Jagged Edge’s hit song Promise. “Yes, I love this song!” I exclaimed excitedly. I began to bob and grind in my seat as we were on our way to get breakfast.
************
He got out the car and walked over to my side to help me out the car. “Why thank you. I see you’re such a gentleman.” I said smiling.
We walked into I-Hop hand in hand. I was ready to smash some food. An older women that looked about in her early forties came to assist us. “Hello and welcome to I-Hop. My name is Lauren and I am going to be assisting you today.” Lauren the waitress said. I smiled at the older woman. She was older but still had her curves. She was a plump curvy women with plump lips and a round soft face. She was the color of Hershey’s chocolate and her natural hair was in a fluffy ponytail.
She reminded me of my mother before she got addicted to drugs. I looked at the ground in an embarrassing remembrance of my mother. “You okay chile?” Lauren said lifting my chin with her finger. “Yes ma'am I am fine.” I said looking up smiling at Lauren. She seemed to be more than just a waitress. At the moment she seemed like a mother figure.
“Whatever is troubling you chile, pray to the good Lord about it.” Lauren said smiling at me.
“Yes ma'am.” I said. “I really don't know how to pray,” I thought to myself.
“What would you two love birds like to have today?” Lauren asked.
“Ma'am that's not my-,” “Weren't not a couple ma'am.” Me and Messiah said talking over each other.
She laughed. “You coulda fooled me.” There was a silence for a few seconds. Miss Betty cleared her throat. “What can I get for you two?” she said.
“I would like to have raspberry white chocolate chip pancakes, a Swiss mocha coffee and can you add some eggs and bacon to that?” I said putting my menu down and smiling at her.
“And for the gentleman?” Lauren asked looking at Messiah.
“I would like a chicken fajita omelet and a strawberry and lemonade I-Hop splasher, thank you.” Messiah said showing his perfect teeth.
Lauren told us our food would be done in the next twenty minutes, so with that twenty minutes Me and Messiah got caught up on each other’s lives and what we wanted our futures to look like. I learned that he had a crazy girlfriend that was deeply in love with him. He never told me her name nor did I care. The past was the past and this is now. I also learned that his mom died recently.
Twenty-two minutes later our food came and we ate as we continued to converse. As we were leaving I said truthfully, “I really had a beautiful time with you Messiah. It was just like old times.” “I can second that.” He said looking at me. We shared a gaze for a few seconds but then I broke it by looking away.
Fifteen minutes later we arrived at my home. I invited him in and .....
