Slow is sexy

Kissing. Food.

Two things that can be super sexy when slow.

Dressing. Undressing. Dancing.

There’s another three.

Personally, I find people who move through life at a calm pace, unaffected by the hectic world around them and focused on operating at their own speed, totally sexy. Man or woman. There’s something magnetic about their ability to anchor to the moment and move through it with ease.

OK. Lean in and get real close – do any of the below resonate with you?

Do you, from the moment you wake to the moment you go to bed, fill your days with ‘things to do’?

Is there always a voice inside your head telling you to do more, be more and achieve more?

Do you incessantly rush from one meeting, catch up or task to the next, leaving very little time for stillness?

Do you always feel rushed? Do you often feel as if you’re rushing others? Do you get frustrated when others don't work at your pace?

Are you often late for things or pressed to make an appointment in time?

Do you sometimes hop in your car or jump on public transport and realise that when you arrive at your destination you can’t even remember getting there?

Do you get to the end of your day and feel as if you’ve been pulled in every different direction doing things for others, yet you’ve accomplished nothing for yourself?

If you answered yes to any of the above, you could probably (like me) do with a good dose of slow to kickstart your dedication to grounding. Most of us not only repeat the same old thoughts and narratives internally each day, but also spend a good chunk of our time in a fast-paced, frenetic, reactive mode.

Reactive mode is rampant with rush, and ripe with regret.

You can get so busy fulfilling the needs of others that you habitually take on too much while your own dreams fade and wilt.

Here’s what happens when you choose to slow down.

Your thoughts become more organised, prioritised and clear.

Your focus and quality of work improve.

You remember what your values are and what activities are aligned to them.

You’re a kinder, more compassionate person (including to your barista, who is doing their best to get all those orders out at once!).

You work from a place that is calmer and less frenetic, meaning you ultimately make better lifestyle choices, with clarity and groundedness.

You become the kind of person that you want to hang out with.
