Phone etiquette for the conscious yogi
In conversation: When distracted by your best friend (your phone), you’re missing key signals from the person you’re in conversation with. Put your phone away or if you put it on the table, lay it face down. You won’t miss a thing and you’ll create an opportunity to truly connect.
At meal times: Whether you’re with another or hanging solo, put your phone away. Out of sight, out of mind. Not only will you experience some peace and quiet, and let your nervous system settle, but just as important, you’ll give your digestion a better chance of working efficiently as you pay attention to your meal.
At bedtime: I keep my phone next to me to use as an alarm, but I power down two hours before bed, meaning there is no social engagement, texts or calls. And as I’m crawling into bed my phone goes onto airplane mode so there are no distractions, and less temptation to look on the way back from a midnight wee break.
