Conclusion
As I sit to wrap this book up in words and send you off inspired to truly ‘let go’, to catch the current of whatever waves decide to pick you up in this moment and live a life in flow, I’ve – only days ago – given birth to a beautiful little girl. She’s all the inspiration I need to write this: a perfect reminder that life is precious. Blink and we miss it. Right now, I stare into her barely open eyes and realise that before I know it she’ll have children of her own.
It is never too late to start living the life you want.
We can press the reset button each morning to reinvent ourselves. Daily.
Remember that rituals are a deep reverence to self and a way to slow down and to savour life’s moments. How fully can you pour yourself into the ones that make you feel like you are you but, more importantly, remind you of your connection to all beings and things?
Yoga is sacred movement but also a playful way to stay in tune to your body’s needs and the environment around it. Take your body out into nature – often. May it be far more interested in what trees it shall climb today than the outfit it will wear to work.
Remember what brings you joy and lean into those things, never underestimating the power of a good belly laugh. But don’t forget to honour sadness and grief, too, as another way to feel more connected to this human experience.
And speaking of connection, remember that we’re all made up of the same stuff and we’re all going through our own highs and lows. Make like a Buddhist and practise kindness and compassion. When someone cuts you off in traffic or jumps in front in the coffee queue, remember what’s really important. Maybe they have a lot on their mind or they just didn’t notice you. Mistakes happen.
Whenever possible (and it’s always possible), let’s make our relationships deeper and more meaningful. Listen - with every cell. Because sometimes the greatest gift you can give is to let someone be heard.
If I look across to my daughter right now, I wish for her a life in which she experiences an abundance of love and playfulness and is open to the experiences that this great mystery has to offer her.
This mystery has grander plans that I can even imagine for her or that she might dream up for herself one day. Surrender is the key. This surrender is the same wish I have for myself and for all of us.
We can plan and hustle all we like but, in the end, I think we’re all just being ‘done’. Allow it to happen and experience pure magic.
