PUTTING YOGA NIDRA INTO PRACTICE

Four Practice Sessions and 115 Micro-Practices

In order to be able to practice yoga nidra without the presence of a teacher, you can record your own voice and then use it to experience these sessions in a guided manner. The ellipses or suspension points indicate short or long moments of silence, according to one’s intention. The art of conducting these sessions lies in measuring these pauses in a way that will bring growing awareness. With practice, the moments of silence—which are not moments of absence, but of presence—become longer. You can note that the use of the wish or resolve (sankalpa) is neither necessary nor systematic. You can adapt the position for practicing in order to be more comfortable by using a cushion, a blanket, and a scarf to cover your eyes.
