ACKNOWLEDGMENT S

Writing a book, like the Game of Life, is a team effort. This book would not have been completed were it not for a talented team of people playing their positions exceptionally well.

That team could fill the largest locker room, and space prohibits me from thanking everyone by name. I must, however, single out the staff, athletes, and extended family of Athletes’ Performance for their input and inspiration. Special thanks go to Amanda Carlson, Craig Friedman, and Dan Burns for helping to shape the message of this program. I am also grateful for the insights from our friends at Tignum (www.tignum.com), namely Hans-Jürgen Rippel and Scott Peltin. Debbie Martell, the wonderful performance chef at Athletes’ Performance, provided a huge assist with the recipes in this book. As always, I owe a huge debt of gratitude to my co-conspirators David Black and Pete Williams, along with Rodale’s team of Jeremy Katz, Pete Fornatale, Susan Eugster, Karen Neely, Susannah Hogendorn, and Jennifer Giandomenico for helping me fulfill the goal of sharing the Core message with others. Last of all to my beautiful wife, Amy; our family; and our Athletes’ Performance team.
