Chapter 10

Royce

You were right,” Royce said to Wendell, Sr. when he stepped into the office the next morning to clock in.

About?”

Telling her. At first, I thought that maybe I shouldn’t have said anything because she was upset and rightly so. But she needed to hear it, and even though it was rough, we got through it. Thank you for the advice.”

Anytime, Royce.”

Oh, and another thing…”

What’s that?”

Royce walked closer to Wendell’s desk and sat down in the wooden chair. “I like working here, but I think I’m going to try my hand at doing my own thing in a year or two.”

Oh, yeah?” Wendell smiled.

Yes. I’m thinking about opening my own PI firm.”

Private investigator, huh?”

Yeah. I’m thinking about it.”

That seems like something that would be right up your alley, especially with your military background and the way you saved my daughter...you would be good at it.”

You think so?” Royce asked with raised brows. “Makeena said she thought I would be good at it, too.”

You would be. Now, that’s a job that’ll keep you on your toes.”

That’s exactly what I’m looking for.”

I will certainly do anything I can to help you get it off of the ground. Any help you need in the matter, feel free to let me know.”

Will do,” Royce said standing. “There’s a lot to do today, so let me get to it.”

All right. I’ll see you later, Royce.”

Yep.”
