Day 70:  Uncharted Waters

While sailing on the open sea, a captain relies heavily on his navigational instruments and charts to plot the best course to his destination. But before setting that course, he must take a lot of things into consideration, like the weather, the tides, time of year, currents, routes to avoid (like pirates-infested waters!), etc. When it comes to choices in life, there are many things to consider as well. Before deciding to make a course change in your life, make sure it’s the right choice.

Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; 6 in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight (Proverbs 3:5–6 NIV).

When I was asked to help write this devotional, at first, I was stunned; to think that such a blessed author as MaryLu Tyndall would pick me to do this with her.

Once the shock wore off, I began to feel the fear of possible failure. I’d never done anything like this before, so I had no idea if I could write even one devotion, let alone help fill an entire book.

Show me your ways, O LORD, teach me your paths; guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long (Psalm 25:4–5 NIV).

I knew that if I were meant to do this, that God would guide me. So, I prayed about it and sat down and started to write. It’s amazing how much I had inside me that was meant to come out. God has blessed me and guided me every step of the way.

Life has a lot of scary moments. Times when we just want to say, “I can’t do that, let someone else do it.” But in doing so, we miss out on a great blessing. It can be scary making a course change in your life, especially later in life. Yet, if it is the right choice, God will take that fear away and steer you along that new course.

I pray that you may be active in sharing your faith, so that you will have a full understanding of every good thing we have in Christ (Philemon 6 NIV).

As I write this, MaryLu and I have no idea if this devotional will be published. There is always that possibility of rejection. But rejected or accepted, I am blessed and grateful for this opportunity.

When God puts a blessed opportunity in your path, take it and use it, without the fear of rejection. You will learn from it and be blessed by it.
