Day 154:  God’s Masterpiece!

There’s nothing like enjoying a sunset on a ship out to sea! It’s almost as if you were watching God pick up His brush and palette and begin painting across the sky and water. Every stroke, every color is placed in perfect harmony and blends naturally with every other color until you are staring at a masterpiece that would put Van Gogh to shame.

We are part of God’s great masterpiece. We are part of His magnificent artistry. And we must try our best to stay a part of the whole picture He has painted. We must find our place and help others to find theirs.

No, we speak of God’s secret wisdom, a wisdom that has been hidden and that God destined for our glory before time began. None of the rulers of this age understood it, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. However, as it is written: “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him” but God has revealed it to us by his Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God (1 Corinthians 2:7–10 NIV).

Ignorance is not bliss. To be ignorant means you lack understanding. To lack understanding means you are missing a piece of the puzzle of life; you’re incomplete.

I have assembled over a hundred puzzles. Each puzzle depicts a beautiful scene of God’s handiwork.

Once, as I was finishing a thousand-piece puzzle, I realized I was missing one piece. When I was finished with the puzzle, I looked down at this incomplete scene and knew I couldn’t display this puzzle because that one missing piece ruined the whole picture. No one would ever appreciate the scenic view because everybody’s eyes would go straight to the missing piece.

When you are ignorant about something, it stands out from all of your other traits. You are like a painting that was never finished, a puzzle missing one piece. There are some who are ignorant when it comes to Christ. They have either been given the wrong information or they simply were never taught.

If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him (James 1:5 NIV).

As a Sunday school teacher, I try my best to instill all that I can about Christ in the children I teach. And even though I may never see who these children grow up to be, I know that I am giving them the information they need at this point in time. I will continue to help them to grow up not ignorant about the Word. And in the end, all I can do is pray that they grow up to live complete lives with no missing pieces so they can become part of God’s masterpiece!
