Circumstances

The placid waters of the river harbour deep secrets. So still, so peaceful – almost giving the impression of a content life – the water stretches on and on, and a feeling of calm envelopes the mind. We wish our life was as unruffled as the waters.

As we glide by the stretch of water, the serenity is invaded by a sound of urgency – an invasion of silence, the sound of water falling from a height – and the unruffled water becomes furious, falling with intensity. Determined to survive, it emerges from the turmoil victorious.

It makes one wonder whether the way people react depends on circumstances. Perhaps it’s the situation which makes a person calm, ferocious, restless, or angry.
