THEY SAY THERES a motive behind every murder. Revenge for past injuries, a nightmarish childhood that compels us to repeat what was once done to us, anything to explain the unfathomable horror. Cause and effect that together make the world easier to understand and help us feel slightly safer.

Unfortunately, in some cases, it’s wishful thinking. Pure evil never has and never will need a motive.
