Rosie had put herself in charge of recruiting new KIT peace troops. While she was monitoring worldwide spy activity with Poppy and Willie–she decided to run a proposed new advertisement through her fellow spies. “What do you think?” she asked. Rosie unveiled the computer ad that she wanted to run, and read it out loud.
“Attention Kitties. Operation Bob-Cat invites you to be all you can be. Be a pride of one. This is an international call to paws. Join the KIT Peace Troops now, and take action against all the tyranny in the world.”
“Nice,” said Poppy and Willie. “We like it!”
Rosie hit the send button, and the rallying cry went out to millions of kitties around the globe.
The Truttyfore town home had now been completely taken over by Operation Bob-Cat. This was, after all, the biggest mission in KIT history. Every room was occupied with recruits, elite KIT and COBRA agents, and high-level experts. Deliveries were coming in around the clock. Everyone was being trained and equipped with all the latest gadgets and inventions. Spy kitties who did not have fluffy tails were being advised to put their gadgets up high on the inside of their paws–so as to arouse less suspicion. And all troops were being outfitted with special jungle camouflage suits.
In the midst of intense training, a package was delivered from the Jingle Billy Toy Factory in Frankfurt. Rosie opened it up and examined the new shipment of “meowie-zeowies.”
“Oh, good!” she said to Willie and Poppy. “They’re small. They can be hidden easily.”
Poppy immediately started to hand out the gadgets to the new recruits. Earlier in the day, all recruits had been equipped with alpha-wave blockers. Although only key COBRA agents would be trained to use hypno-sonic zappers, everyone would need to wear the blockers. When the zappers were engaged, everyone not protected by the blockers, would immediately fall into a temporary hypnotic trance. And certainly this would never do. It was essential that all the spies remain upright and alert at all times.
In another training room, more advanced KIT agents were being trained to use the Cybella Robot. Several of these had been fashioned especially for Operation Bob-Cat. The freestanding robots were being reserved for the end of the mission. Because of the way they were constructed, they would have a hard time traversing the uneven terrain of the jungle. However, they would be invaluable at the end of the mission, when it was time to enter Brutus-G’s compound. They would be able to turn knobs, open doors, sustain any kind of physical assault–and would be able to shield all the peace troops from danger.
It had been an extraordinary day of training and preparation. All of the spy kitties had worked so hard, but were so exhilarated, that they hardly noticed how fatigued they really were. But for Poppy, there was still one task left. She had to fit in some Word Buzz practice. After all, as everyone knew, she had an all-important tournament coming up.
