Gay N. Martin, who lives in Alabama, enjoys writing about travel in the Southeast. Her articles and travel pieces have appeared in Modern Bride, the Boston Herald, Kiwanis, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the London Free Press, the San Antonio Express-News, the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, Far East Traveler, the Birmingham News, the Times-Picayune, the Grand Rapids Press, Upscale Living Magazine, and other publications. She has won numerous writing awards for fiction and nonfiction in state, regional, and national competitions. She is also the author of Globe Pequot’s Off the Beaten Path Louisiana and Alabama’s Historic Restaurants and Their Recipes, published by John F. Blair.
Before embarking on her writing career, Martin taught high school for 11 years, served as resource coordinator of her school’s program for gifted and talented students, and sponsored the school newspaper.
