How O‘ahu Became One Island

A brother and sister lived apart, each on an island. “This is not good,” the brother said. “We love each other and, separated, we are lonely. Let us hook our islands together.”

“Yes,” the sister answered, “I shall hook my small island of Wai‘anae to your larger Ko‘olau island. Our islands shall be one.” So they seated themselves and hooked fingers with each other. Closer and closer they pulled their islands till they became one. Then brother and sister lived together on their island of O‘ahu.
