Bob and Leah Schwartz, authors of The One-Hour Orgasm: How to Learn the Amazing “Venus Butterfly,” gave this technique its name—reputedly lifted from an episode of an 80s TV show, L. A. Law—but the technique itself actually dates back to the 1960s, when Lafayette Morehouse created a commune in California dedicated to sexuality. Most manual techniques for giving a woman an orgasm that are taught in sex workshops are based on the Morehouse method.
1. His hands are clean, nails trimmed—and fingers lubed.
2. She lies down; he sits beside her.
3. Placing one hand under hips, he curves the other hand at the top of her mons, so his middle finger can easily reach down to stroke her clitoris.
4. With the thumb or fingers of his lower hand, he gently parts her labia.
5. With the middle finger of his top hand, he strokes up and down around the clitoral area. (Bob Schwartz says, “Imagine your finger as a delicate butterfly wing.”) Keep reapplying lube as necessary.
