Fantasy Scripts

The Three Golden Rules of Fantasies

1. A fantasy is often not a wish or desire and rarely provides a road map to a potential real sex encounter, but it is a healthy way of exploring your sexual taboos, such as a spontaneous sexual encounter with a stranger, multiple partners, “taboo” practices such as BDSM and exhibitionism, or “forced sex.”

2. Once you share a fantasy, you may rob it of its power to arouse. It’s not your private little secret anymore.

3. We are all aroused by things we don’t want to do, and there’s nothing wrong with that. Sharing fantasies can be thrilling, but share those fantasies carefully and act them out with even greater care.

• Take turns selecting or writing erotic fantasies to read as part of foreplay.

• Read a fantasy while your partner masturbates.

• Use the fantasies as phone sex scripts when you’re not together.

• If you want to act out one of your scenarios, develop the details together as if you were erotic screenwriters. Remember: Much of fantasy play is theater. You pretend your lover is a stranger and pick him up in a bar, then give him a blow job in the car. When in doubt, dial it down.
