Sex Rituals

Sex is part ritual. Like religion, sex incorporates habitual elements that give it special meaning. Repeating some of these habits contribute to the feeling that sex has become routine.

Cultivate the ritual aspects of lovemaking without falling into a rut. Some suggestions:

• Candles

• Incense

• Flowers

• Music

• Special clothing

Physical gestures, such as holding out a hand to initiate the walk into the bedroom, taking her face in his hands, or putting her hand on his thigh.

But doing it the same way every time isn’t sex ritual—it’s sex rut.
