Image DAY 299: GET-YOUR-FREAK-ON FRIDAY
Taking It Out #1:
Cuddle Parties

Reid Mihalko, a bicoastal sex educator known as the Cuddle Party Man, may not have invented cuddle parties, but he made them part of the sex culture. An event he held in New York City some years ago captured the attention of the national media, who went with the storyline that “New Yorkers have to pay to cuddle.” (Really—we can cuddle for free, but who has the time to invest in wooing a partner?)

Check sex event venues in your area. If you live in an urban area, there may be a cuddle party event near you. If not, throw your own cuddle party. That way, you get to make the rules.

It’s not a cuddle party if:

• Clothes are removed.

• Genitals are fondled.

• Sex acts are performed. (Yes, a BJ is a sex act.)

• Couples wander off to be alone.

• Anything other than fully clothed public cuddling occurs.

Some couples may be okay with cuddling others; some may not be. If the party is primarily couples, singles may not feel welcome. Think through the guest list carefully.
