AFTERWORLD: the land of the dead where the spirits of all the deceased of Ares reside.

ANDU: a great warrior and a friend to Jon Kirk.

ARES: the planet under the red sun in the Orion System that Earthman Jon Kirk finds himself transported to through a machine controlled by Tar-gool, and eventually where he becomes Emperor of the Green Empire.

ARESANS: the human-like peoples who are the inhabitants of the planet Ares and the Two continents, Cos and Vognar, of Greens and Blues, respectively. In the eastern lands most of the men are green skinned with dark hair, while the women are lighter in color and have red or green hair. In the western lands the people are blue-skinned with black or white hair.

ARBORAN WILDERNESS: thick jungle-like forest in a secluded northern land of the eastern continent of Ares.

ARMEN: King of the Sar Nomads, and a friend of Jon Kirk.

ARON THE ELDEST: a green man over 800 years old, the leader of the Old Ones of Keva and one of the most powerful men possessing mind powers.

BEDAR: the king of Sfol, a small city-state on Ares.

BEEL: Blue Vognar soldier, who with Corvo under Kevan mind control allows John Kirk, Zaor and Shamar to escape Vognar in a stolen airship.

BLACK DRAGONS, THE: the elite Green Empire bodyguard of Emperor Jon Kirk.

BLUES: common name of the blue-skinned people who live on the western continent of Ares, called Vognar. They are also called Vognars.

BRON: Zaran Winged-man and successor to Grusus, killed in battle by Jon Kirk.

CALAIT: name of the old Zaran city that was renamed Tarcos.

CHAVAS: a rat-like creature, also it is a high insult to be called a chavas.

CORON: a farmer and warrior.

CORVO: Blue Vognar soldier, who with Beel under Kevan mind control allows John Kirk, Zaor and Shamar to escape Vognar in a stolen airship.

COS: the eastern continent of the planet Ares inhabited by the green human-like race and until recently controlled by the Winged-men of Zar.

CROOCH: a Southern Farmer and a vile traitor whose treachery knows no bounds.

DAMETON: the brother of Tazo, from the Southern Farmer Caste and a friend to Jon Kirk.

DARG: called “king” of prisoners in the cells before the Games of Zar.

GREEN EMPIRE: new empire created by Jon Kirk comprised of liberated Zaran cities on the continent of Cos with Tarcos as the capitol.

GREENS: common name for the green-skinned people of Ares, most of whom live on the eastern continent of Cos.

GOPON: Zaran, overseer of female slaves in the palace of the King of Caliat.

GURSUS: Winged-man who came from Zar to re-conquer Ares for Zar. A particularly brutal creature, killed by Jon Kirk in battle.

HOAM: an Ares green man general, defeated by the Winged-men in the distant past, known today as Hoam the Hero, and the direct ancestor of the treacherous King Tob.

JON KIRK: Adventurous Earthman and heroic soldier transported to the planet Ares. He becomes the Emperor of the Green Empire of Ares and marries Lady Sirah.

KEN: fleet commander under Lord Admiral Mentep commander of the Grand Fleet of the Vognars during their invasion of the eastern continent of Ares.

KEV: small hidden village on the western continent that some believe may be the home of the remnants of mythical Keva.

KEVA: hidden and mythical secret city on the eastern continent of Cos where the people have tremendous mind powers. Shamar is their king. See Kev.

KONOR: Blue rebel and the new king of the Kingdom of Lanar on the western continent of Ares.

LANAR: a kingdom of the Blues and Greens on the western continent of Vognar on Ares, formerly under the rule of the tyrant Okvon and the blue-skinned Vognars, but now free and ruled under Konor their king.

LANUS: one of the Old Ones of Keva.

LAAR: one of the venerable Old Ones of Keva.

MANALIA: Zaor’s mate, green-skinned, fire-red haired women.

MENTEP: Lord Admiral of the Vognar Grand Fleet and leader of the invasion of the eastern continent, also brother of Vognar Supreme Leader Okvon. OGZ: one of the Vaki Nomads, a mighty rival to Armen and his tribe.

OKVON: brutal Supreme Leader of the Blue Vognars of the western continent of Ares.

OLAR: one of the venerable Old Ones of Keva.

OLD ONES: members of the Council of Keva who have special mind powers. Aron The Eldest is their leader.

ON-VAN: military officer who led a mutiny of green warriors in Scresa.

ORLAZ: a madman held prisoner in the cells under the Arena. ORTON: Zaran prince, new ruler of Caliat after his father, Pondonan is killed by Jon Kirk. He was later also killed by Jon Kirk in a duel.

OXLN: small Ares creature that uses camouflage to make it invisible to its enemies.

PONDONAN: Zaran ruler of Caliat, killed by Jon Kirk. He was the father of Orton, who succeeded him, also killed by Jon Kirk.

POURK: a large reptilian animal used much in the same way as a horse is upon the Earth on the planet Ares. They are very fast moving beasts.

SAHN JOR: King of the Caste of Woodworkers who becomes a great friend to Jon Kirk, and a key administrator of Tarcos and First Minister of The Green Empire of Ares under Emperor Jon Kirk.

SALIAD: the third and last Winged-man of Zar King of Caliat before the city is conquered. He is killed by Jon Kirk in battle after the Games of Zar.

SCRESA: a city formerly occupied by the Winged-men, now one of the six cities of the Green Empire of Jon Kirk.

SFOL: far off city-state on the eastern continent of Ares ruled by King Bedar.

SHAMAR: the young and heroic king of the secret city of Keva. SIRAH: the green-haired beauty who would become the mate of Earthman, Jon Kirk, and later become Lady Sirah, Empress of Ares. Mother of Alun Kirk.

SAOK: a friend to Jon Kirk and Zaor.

SERPENT WATER: a deadly and dangerous ocean between the two continents of Ares, the eastern continent of Cos and the western continent of Vognar. It is said to be full of sea monsters. In certain small hidden areas it is sometimes shallow enough where it can be crossed on foot or by mounted men.

TAL: a major in Jon Kirk’s Black Dragons who leads the battle outside Tarcos.

TAM: Tarcos scout murdered by Zaran leader, Bron.

TARCOS: formerly the Zaran city of Caliat, renamed in honor of Tar-Gool when it was conquered by Jon Kirk.

TAR-GOOL: an ancient green man, patriot and great scientist whose mission was to free his people from the Winged-men, the city Tarcos was later named in his honor.

TAVAN: a Southern Farmer.

TOB. king of the Warrior Caste traitor and enemy of Jon Kirk.

TOR: small city-state on the eastern continent conquered by the Zarans under Grusus.

UNKNOWN LAND: another name for the mysterious western continent of Ares, also called Vognar.

VAAR: Blue Vognar officer who captured Jon Kirk, Zaor and Shamar.

VAKON: a Southern Farmer, a treacherous fiend in league with the vile Crooch.

VOGNAR: the mythical unknown land of western continent of the planet Ares, also the name of the blue-skinned people who live there.

VOGNARS: the Blues, or blue-skinned people who live on the western continent of Ares.

ZAR: the original home planet of the Winged-men, or Zarans. ZARANS: the name the Winged-men call themselves. They came to Ares ages ago in spaceships from the planet Zar and conquered the planet and its native human-like green hued people, or Greens.

ZAOR: a young green warrior that Jon Kirk meets when in comes to Ares who befriends the Earthman, and the brother of Sirah. He becomes a general in the army of the Green Empire and the head of Emperor Jon Kirk’s Black Dragon bodyguard.
