GINA M. SHAW is a health and medical writer and breast cancer survivor. She is also the mother of three children following her breast cancer diagnosis in 2004. Gina chronicled her journey through breast cancer in her thirties for Redbook in a five-part diary series. She has won awards for her medical feature writing, including the Society of Professional Journalists’ award for a WebMD series, “Crossing the Thin Line,” and the Association of Women in Communications’ Clarion Award for another Redbook series, “The Fertility Diaries,” which told the story of three Ohio women, their friendship, and their journey through fertility struggles, pregnancy, and parenthood. Her credits have also appeared in Ladies’ Home Journal, Fitness, Woman’s Day, and WebMD the Magazine.

Gina’s daughter Annika was adopted in domestic open adoption in 2006, her son, Adrian, was born in March 2008 with no assisted reproduction, and her latest bundle of joy, Katia, arrived earlier this year. Along with husband Evan, they all live in Montclair, New Jersey.
