The massive tower was now her prison. Its heavy stone walls rose up around her, making any chance of escape impossible. Still, she had run as fast as her young legs could move, hoping to find a way to stop the evil army from reaching heaven. She had put up a good fight to get this far, but it wasn’t good enough. She had run straight into a dead end, and the hideous wolf blocked her only way out. The finish line of life was just ahead, covered in mangy fur and sharp fangs. Death was going to greet Bella through the teeth of a wolf.
She was so high up in the air it felt like she was standing at the entrance to heaven. The spiral walkway she had used to ascend the tower with Zion was now empty. Where had all the people gone? Bella hated heights, but to survive the dreaded monster, she had to get over it. The evil one named Gol had already pushed her friend over the edge…
She was next.
Her eyes locked on the honey-colored wolf eyes that were locked on her. She could see evil swirling in those yellow orbs like a sulfurous potion brewed in cauldrons of darkest night. The predator inched closer. Five more evil hounds ran up and took their positions behind the alpha. All six were about to tear Bella into a pile of human confetti.
The animals started their chorus of deep, slow growls.
All she could do was stand her ground.
And pray.
Dear God, help me!
