ADAM TO JACK
I know it's a lot to take in, and no doubt it all seems extremely far-fetched, but I can promise you it's not.
Everything I'm telling you is the truth.
I can see in your eyes you don't believe me.
Fine. Sure, I'm making it all up. It's the fictional story I've wanted to write, and I hope I become a bestseller through you.
Do you think it'll work?
My name will never make it into print. No one will ever know my story, know my truth, even know me, so why would I lie?
Hell, the name I came into this Asylum with even isn't my actual name.
My birth certificate was forged because, you know...I was created in a lab.
Everything about me has been created by someone else.
I guess you could say my whole being has been fictionalized.
Every. Single. Thing.
The only truth is what you're hearing, and even you don't believe it.
How do you think that makes me feel?
I'm living a god damn movie script that's one hundred percent real, but it's too real to be believable.
Most people move around in this world with blinders on, only willing to see the mundane, to stay in their lanes all because it's safer that way.
It's as if we have this knowledge deep inside us that to veer outside our predetermined lane would sacrifice our safety and everyone else around us.
All those crazies who believe in a secret society, they're the ones people should be listening to, not the very people covering up the truth by creating a believable lie.
Why do you think there are so many movies about secret assassins and ex-military for hire? Why do you think there are so many government conspiracies floating about?
Every lie is steeped in a truth. Every story, every scenario, every secret has a kernel of truth to it - surely, you of all people, know that.
