Day — the great adventure

still in store. Time

and time again, one foot

before the other, I climb

among the foothills

that become a life.

We’ve children now

and I, like my good wife,

must learn the art

of letting go.

For, as Leonardo knew, only

the sun has never seen a shadow.

Night — and the stars shine on

for all they’re worth.

I have loved my term

on earth.
