CHAPTER TWENTY-SEVEN

Sydney couldn’t believe she’d met Dylan at this same convention a year ago. Talk about a life-altering encounter.

Day One was winding down, and she hadn't stopped smiling or talking for most of it. She’d also been on her feet almost that entire time. She was sore and tired, but energized.

“Good opening day.” Josh slid up behind her and wrapped his arms around her waist.

She leaned back into him with a smile. “Fantastic opening day.”

Their new game was selling amazingly well. Even better, last week she’d gotten the official news that Changelings and Caverns was hers to sell again. When people saw the board game was available, she’d sold through half her stock.

At this rate, they’d be out before the end of tomorrow. “We’ll need to start taking pre-orders for the next print run,” she said.

“There are worse problems to have.”

“How dare you?” A loud gasp cut through the waning chatter in the vendor hall.

Sydney’s grin grew, and she scanned the faces for Dylan.

He approached, his scowl wavering. “My best friend and my girlfriend... I can’t believe this.”

“Knock it off, Mr. Melodramatic.” Sydney playfully smacked his arm.

He grabbed her wrist, stepped closer, rather than pulling her away from Josh, and pressed his mouth to hers.

She groaned and sank into the kiss. That still hadn’t gotten old, and she couldn’t imagine it ever would.

This was the perfect life. It didn’t matter what anyone said, or that the three of them had the occasional bump. Sydney wouldn’t have things any other way. She couldn’t have written a better ending if this was the conclusion to one of her games.
