Chapter Nine
Alex gazed into Kyle’s eyes as he drove his cock deep, each slow stroke filled with purpose and heated desire. He pulled out until just his tip was submerged and paused, not breaking eye contact for an instant.
“Aw, Jesus.” Kyle bucked his hips. Beads of sweat had formed on his skin, causing it to glisten.
Alex pushed forward, allowing a mere inch to go in at a time. “We’re gonna make this one last a good while.”
Kyle grinned. “You sayin’ somethin’ about the fast and furious fuck I just gave you? ’Cause it looked to me like you enjoyed that almost as much as I did.”
“Oh, I did, no doubt about it. I’m also enjoying the look on your face as I take my time. Excruciating, isn’t it? From this angle, I can watch your cock get hard and throb without as much as a breath touching it.” He licked his lips, tasting salt on his own skin. Drops of moisture ran down his neck, his back, his crack. Perspiration had never felt so good.
“If I hadn’t just come I’d never be able to stand this. As it is, I expect I’m only good for a little while longer.”
Alex licked his lips again. “A little while’s all I need. God damn, you feel good, all hot and tight around me. It’s almost gonna be a shame when I come and have to leave this spot.”
“Aw, fuck.” Kyle reached behind and grabbed Alex’s ass cheeks. “You’re drivin’ me crazy. I like this position, too, but I’d rather be where I could lick that sweat off your upper lip. And I’ve never found Raphael’s angels sexy, but that one tattooed over your nipple makes me hard just lookin’ at it. I wanna suck that thing so bad.”
Alex pulled out then pounded in quickly.
Kyle jumped then groaned. “Fucker.”
“That’s me. Your fucker.” He repeated the movement then had to laugh. “I’m imagining going to the Art Institute with you, and we see a painting of Raphael’s angels. It makes you so hard we have to sneak off to a closet and have sex before we finish touring the galleries.”
Kyle grinned. “We’re definitely gonna have to do that. Lean down here so I can suck that tit.”
Alex obliged and felt Kyle’s hand slide between them to stroke himself as he sucked.
“Aw, God.” His balls churned with his imminent climax. “I’m close. Gonna send my load deep inside you.”
“Do it,” Kyle mumbled, his mouth working Alex’s nipple. “Fuck me.”
“Yeah, baby.” As Alex increased his speed and intensity, Kyle’s hand quickened to keep pace. “Jack that cock. Make it spew all over me.”
“Almost there,” Kyle agreed, voice breathy.
“Suck my angel.” Alex drove deep, hard and fast.
Kyle latched on and groaned, and they both exploded.
He felt warm heat coat his stomach at the same time he emptied into the latex. They rocked in unison, panting, licking and eventually kissing, before they rolled on their sides, mouths parted, gasping for air.
Kyle chuckled. “When you got that tattoo, did you ever imagine hearin’ yourself say, ‘suck my angel’?”
They erupted into peals of laughter and frolicked on the bed until Alex had to pull out. He removed the condom and chucked it into the nearby trash container.
Kyle grabbed two towels from the night stand and they wiped each other off before Alex curled up against his chest. “That was…” A rare occurrence in his life, but words failed him.
“Yeah. It was.” Kyle ran a hand over Alex’s back.
Alex looked up at him. “How do you know what I was going to say?”
“I don’t care what you were gonna say. We both know how it was.” He kissed Alex’s forehead.
Smiling, Alex scooted up to capture the next kiss on his lips. He opened his mouth and their tongues batted against each other eagerly. He should feel tired and sated after two rousing fucks but he was randy and ready to go again.
Kyle groaned.
Alex pulled back just enough to speak. “Sorry. I can’t seem to get enough of you.”
Running his hands over Alex’s face, Kyle cupped his cheeks and brought him close for another kiss. “Don’t say sorry. I’m groaning because I’m hard again, and I’m tryin’ to figure out what we’re gonna do this time.”
“Mmm.” Alex kissed him hungrily. “I know exactly what we’re going to do. You’re going to lie there while I roll a rubber on you, then impale myself on your big ol’ boner.”
“Aw, shit. Such a sweet talker. Well, if you insist.” Kyle laced his hands behind his head, grinning.
Alex crawled over him to reach another foil packet and the lube. He settled himself between Kyle’s legs so he could suck the cock to get it nice and hard. “Tempting to just stay here.” He blew on the shaft and watched it twitch.
“Whatever you want.” Kyle watched approvingly.
“I want it all. But right now, I want to ride you like a stallion.” He rolled the condom on and covered it with slick lube. He used the same hand to prep his ass, then straddled Kyle and lowered himself onto the cockhead.
“I like watchin’ you finger yourself. Sometime let’s just watch each other jack off. Might be interestin’ to look but not touch.”
Alex leaned down for a quick kiss. “Whenever you want. Just say the word. But right now, I intend to be fucked.” Pressing his hands to Kyle’s stomach, he lowered his body fully and squirmed as the erect shaft pierced him. Painful at first, it quickly became something else. “Oh, yeah.”
“God, that’s a sight. Do it again, I get a kick out of the look in your eyes.”
He smiled. “The look I get when you fill me to the hilt?”
“Yeah, that one.” He bucked his hips.
Alex sat on the hard rod again and a thrill zipped up his spine. Still pressing his palms against flat abs, he rose and lowered his ass over the swollen shaft.
Kyle’s eyes widened. “Can you believe I’m gonna come again? Keep ridin’ me like that and it won’t take long at all.”
“I might be persuaded to join you.” Alex winked.
Kyle reached for Alex’s cock and cupped it with both hands. “Oh, yes you might. Look at this, nice and hard already. I’m gonna jack you until you spew. And later, I’m gonna suck you dry, let that warm cum slide right down my throat.”
Alex’s eyes dipped back in his head. On sexual overload, his heightened senses caused him to feel everything more intensely. His climax was close, and he could tell by Kyle’s voice that his was, too. “You ready to do this? I’m damn close.”
“Come on then. I’ll be right there with ya.”
A few more pumps of his ass on the slick shaft, in combination with his own cock being handled so magnificently, brought his cum streaming out in hot, pulsing waves.
Kyle stroked and rubbed, milking the cock until the last drop oozed out. “Perfect,” he murmured.
“You next.” Alex was ready to keel over, but not before his lover finished. “Come on, babe.”
“Can’t reach that angel. Give me a finger to suck.” Kyle jerked his head backward in invitation.
Alex inserted his middle finger between Kyle’s lips and let him suck it. He added a second and finger-fucked the gorgeous mouth. When he let a third finger in, Kyle shattered.
Warmth filled Alex’s ass and he reveled in the satisfaction. Seeing the look on Kyle’s face made him happier than he remembered being in a long time, if ever. Pulling his hand out, he leaned down and replaced the fingers with his tongue.
They kissed for long, languid moments until Alex had to lie down. He disposed of Kyle’s rubber and flopped alongside him in the bed, exhausted. “Fuck.”
Kyle glanced over at him and waggled his eyebrows. “Want to?”

Kyle opened one eye and realized the room was pitch black. Fuck. He had a hard time sleeping through the night at Alex’s place but couldn’t pinpoint the exact reason why. Rubbing his eyes, he glanced at the clock. Twelve-forty-five. He usually awoke around the same time and could rarely get back to sleep.
He slid out from under Alex’s arm and grabbed his boxers on the way out to the living room. Slipping them on, he then dropped onto the sofa and scratched his head, deciding what to do. Stay or go? Either way he was bound to wake Alex, who’d proven to be a very light sleeper.
“Hey.” Alex joined him, naked except for the blanket he drew around his shoulders. “Can’t sleep?”
Kyle eyed the cock of his dreams, long and thick and never quite flaccid. “No, and seein’ that isn’t gonna help.”
Alex chuckled and covered himself. “You didn’t get your fill last night?”
“Oh hell yeah, I got my fill and then some. Which doesn’t stop me from wanting more.”
“Like a kid in a candy store.” Alex smiled.
Kyle winked. “Hell yeah.”
Alex sat next to Kyle and looked at him. “Heading out?”
Guilt niggled in the back of his mind. “I don’t want to, but I have to get some sleep. Gonna be one long damn day tomorrow if I don’t.”
“Any thoughts as to what the problem is? My bed too hard? Too soft?”
“Just right.”
“Not used to sleeping with someone?”
Kyle shot him a look.
Alex waved him off. “I know, married twenty years. There has to be something, Kyle. Because if there’s not, then it must be me.”
“It’s not you.” Kyle wrapped an arm around Alex’s shoulder and pressed a kiss to his temple. “Maybe it is the bed. I don’t know.”
“We could try sleeping at your place.”
He nodded. “We could.”
Alex sighed. “Or you could sleep at your place and I can sleep here. If you don’t want to spend the night with me, you just need to say so.”
“If I felt that way, I would. Tomorrow night let’s try it at my place and see how that goes. I wanna spend time with you, Alex. I really do.” Kyle touched his chin then raised it and went in for a kiss.
“Of course I’m willing to try it. But what are we going to do about tonight?”
“Guess we’ll have to think of somethin’ to pass the time.” Kyle smiled seductively before opening the blanket and burying his face between Alex’s legs.

Kyle slept better at his apartment so Alex packed a bag and spent the next few nights there. Thursday, Alex’s friend Colt had invited them to a barbecue at his house. Kyle grudgingly agreed to go due to the promise of the group watching the Bears on TV’s Thursday Night Football.
“Jeans and a sweatshirt is fine,” Alex said as he changed after work. “I stopped and got a bottle of wine to take.”
“Wine?” Kyle made a face as he pulled his Cowboys shirt over his head. “Who drinks wine?”
Alex chuckled. “Colt does, and he’s our host. We have beer and I know you have Scotch around here somewhere.”
“Always.” He worked some pomade through his hair to make it spiky. “We’ll look like a damn liquor store delivery if we arrive with all that.”
“These things are generally BYOB. You want Scotch, the wine’s for Colt, and I just need a beer or two. It’s polite to bring at least a six-pack.”
“Whatever you say, dear,” Kyle teased and went to find a bag for their assortment of booze.
Alex followed him. “You sure you’re okay with this?”
He shot Alex a look. “I wouldn’t go if I wasn’t.” He leaned in and nuzzled the handsome lawyer’s neck. “You might have me wrapped around your little finger, but I’m not completely whipped.”
“Yet.” Alex smirked.
Kyle sucked noisily for a quick moment then paused, his lips still touching skin. “Be careful or I’ll give you a great big hickey right above your collar line where the judges can see it.”
“Just remember, turnabout is fair play.”
“Yeah, well, I doubt the guys on the construction site are gonna care as much as your fancy pants judges and clients.”
“Touché.”
Kyle sucked loudly one more time then swatted Alex’s butt as he walked away. “Fancy pants.”
Alex chuckled. “Are you ready?”
“Ah’ite. Waitin’ on you.”
“Let’s bounce.” Alex dangled the keys to his Audi from one finger. “You want to drive?”
Kyle snatched them away. “You know I do. You’ll have to navigate since you know where we’re goin’.”
“I can do that.”
Kyle loaded the alcohol in the trunk then slid into the front seat of the sporty car. He glanced over at Alex and grinned. “This is nice.”
“You look good in it.”
Kyle backed out of the garage and Alex muttered, “’Course, you’d look good in a potato sack.”
A feeling of happiness settled over him and Kyle winked at his lover. It was nice having someone in his life. But other than at the Pop Warner games, they hadn’t been in public together as a ‘couple’. He was slightly nervous about how the evening ahead would play out.
Their host lived in a nice neighborhood adjacent to Grant Park. Kyle knew the area to be expensive—nearby condos sold in the millions. He parked in front of the small house Alex directed him to. “Thought you said this guy was a teacher.”
“He is. First grade. Why?”
“They must pay teachers better in Chicago than they do in Dallas.”
Alex chuckled. “If you’re talking about the house, Colt inherited it from his parents after they were killed in a car accident. He was an adult, but it was still traumatic.”
“Of course it would be. That’s tough.”
“He’s seeing someone new. I’ve never met the guy. Oh, there’s Eddie’s van. He’s our tattoo artist.”
Kyle gaped. “Who drives an old VW van dinosaur like that?”
Another smile. “Wait until you meet Eddie. Suits him perfectly.” They got out and retrieved their bag, then headed to the front door.
It opened before they reached it and a handsome man with light brown hair stood in the doorway. “So glad you could make it!”
“Hey, Colt. Great to see you.” Alex gave the man a quick hug. “This is Kyle Harbor. Kyle, Colt Crawford.”
Kyle extended his hand and they shook.
“Really nice to meet you.” Colt grinned. “I’ve heard all about you from Travis, Sam and Levi.”
Kyle grimaced. “Not sure I like the sounds of that.”
“All good, I promise. Come in. Everyone’s out back for now. Once the sun goes down we’ll move inside.”
Kyle followed him in and Alex closed the door behind them. “Your house is amazin’.”
“Thanks.” Colt smiled at him then at Alex. “I heard about that accent, too. Hot.”
“Totally,” Alex agreed, also grinning.
“I’m standin’ right here,” Kyle said through a plastered-on smile.
Colt waved him off. “When you’re hot, you’re hot. Get used to it.” He added a twang to his speech. “Y’all come right this way.”
“Nice Texan accent.” Alex nudged his arm and they laughed as they headed to the kitchen.
Kyle didn’t really mind the teasing. Colt seemed nice and Alex obviously liked him.
They fixed their drinks then went to the back yard, where Travis’ family was milling with a few other people.
“This is Dakota,” Colt introduced his friend—a tall Native man with long black hair. They all shook hands.
“I used to have a dog named Dakota,” Kyle whispered to Alex.
Alex elbowed him. “Shh!”
He grinned and prepared to meet the next round of guests.
“Eddie, Mel, this is Kyle,” Alex said. “Kyle, Mel is Sam’s twin sister.”
“Obviously.” The resemblance was uncanny.
“And Eddie is our tattoo artist extraordinaire.”
The man with the long gray hair and beard beamed.
“It’s a pleasure, sir.” Kyle extended his hand and they shook. “I’m quite impressed with your work.”
“Oh yeah? How much of it have you seen?”
Alex cleared his throat. “Enough of it. What are you drinking? I’ll get you a refill just to shut you up.”
Eddie smiled. “Beer, if you’re buying.”
“Just so happens I am.” Alex turned to Kyle. “You want to go fetch Eddie a beer? No way in hell I’m leaving you alone with him.”
“Thank you.” Kyle chuckled and looked at Mel. “Can I get you anything?”
“I’d take some water. I’ll come with you.” She led the way into the house and went straight to the fridge, where she nosed around as she talked. “So you’re the construction guy?”
“That’d be me.”
“Levi says you know a lot about football.”
“I played for a number of years. Just a fan these days.”
She came up with a beer and a bottle of water, closed the fridge and turned to face him. “My brother and Travis are in way over their heads with that Pop Warner league, so thanks for helping them out.”
Guilt creeped in as he realized he’d avoided more games than he’d been to. “I didn’t do much. I think they have a guy helpin’ them now.”
Mel nodded. “Roger, Alex’s secretary’s husband. He’s great, too. Levi loves it, so I’m glad it’s going well.”
“He’s a nice kid.”
“He’s a great kid, and he’s been through more in his eight years than any child should have to.” She looked down, then back up and into his eyes. “I had a drug problem. Sam tried to help me, but we were too close. It wasn’t until he started dating Travis that I got clean. The two of them made it happen. Then I got pregnant again.” She smiled sheepishly. “It all worked out in the end. The guys are head over heels in love, and the kids are healthy and happy, if a wee bit spoiled because they have so many people doting on them.”
“From what I’ve seen of your brother and Travis, they’ll keep the kids grounded as they grow up. A little bit of spoilin’ right now won’t hurt anythin’.”
“Do you have kids?”
“One, a daughter, Kassi. She’s—” He hesitated. “Probably just about your age. Twenty-four.”
“Close! I’m twenty-six.”
Kyle scrambled to do the math in his head.
Mel chuckled. “Weird, huh? Sam and I are six years younger than Travis, who’s the same age as Alex.”
“I’m twelve years older than Alex, so technically I’m old enough to be your father. Great.” He rolled his eyes.
She touched his arm. “Age is just a number. Ask Eddie.” Mel leaned in and whispered, “But don’t tell anyone we’re sleeping together. The guys love Eddie and rely on him for all their tats. They’re very protective of me, and I wouldn’t want to cause trouble between them.”
He replied in a hushed voice. “I won’t say a word. As long as you know what you’re doin’, that’s what counts.” Kyle didn’t let himself dwell on what he’d do if he found out Kassi was sleeping with a man older than him. He tried to push the image from his mind.
Mel grinned and squeezed his arm. “You’re cool. I’m glad Alex found you. He’s a good guy and deserves to be happy. Has he met your daughter yet?”
Kyle winced. “No. I’m not quite…” Words escaped him.
Her eyes widened. “You’re not out? Oh my God! That’s so cute!”
He shot her a look. “What’s ‘cute’ about it? It’s fuckin’ miserable from where I stand.”
She frowned. “I was addicted to cocaine, heroin and prescription painkillers. I lived with my six year old in a cockroach-infested apartment and waited tables at a bar when I could manage to work. My boss used me as a drug runner and, during the last deal I made for him, three of his associates got me stoned and gang-raped me. Which, by the way, is a story that little Lilah will never hear.”
Kyle was speechless.
“It’s shocking, yeah, but I’ve told it so many times at my AA and NA meetings I’m immune. Not much shocks me anymore. So, I’m sorry when you say that being in the closet is fucking miserable, because I’ve lived through fucking miserable, Kyle. You can come out of your closet and when you do, I suspect your life won’t be much different. It’ll probably be better.”
“I’m sorry. I can’t imagine what you’ve been through. If Kassi had been in that situation I’d have moved Heaven and Earth to get her out.”
“She’s lucky to have a father like you. Sam and I weren’t that lucky.”
He gazed out of the window before looking back at her. “You think she’ll feel lucky when she finds out about me?”
“People of our generation are generally less judgmental, in my experience. I doubt she’ll really care. You know her, what do you think? Does she have gay friends? Is she tolerant of alternative lifestyles?”
His mind raced, but he couldn’t answer the questions. I thought I knew her. He smiled. “I don’t know.”
She fingered the drawstring on his hoodie. “I guess maybe you ought to find out.”
The door opened and Levi charged in. “Kyle!” He ran over and hugged one leg.
Kyle leaned down and clasped his shoulder. “Hey, Levi. How you doin’ today?”
“Good! This is my mom.” He took her hand and swung it.
“We’ve met. You’re very lucky to have such a smart and pretty mama.”
Levi beamed. “And two daddies.”
“Very lucky,” Kyle repeated. He glanced at Mel. “Thanks.”
Nodding, she swapped out the warm beer in her hand for a cold one from the fridge. “I’d better get this to Eddie. He’ll be wondering where I got to.”
“See you later, Mommy.” Levi looked up at Kyle. “Will you come play ball with me, please?”
He tossed back his Scotch and set the glass on the counter. “Let’s do it.”
After a rousing game of catch they ate at the picnic table and ended up in the family room watching the football game. When Levi climbed on Kyle’s lap, Sam moved to get him down but Kyle shrugged. “’s ah’ite.”
Lilah followed suit and soon she was sleeping on Kyle’s shoulder.
Sam glanced at them, then turned to Travis. “If we snuck out real quietly they’d never miss us.”
His husband chuckled. “We wouldn’t know what to do with time to ourselves.” He looked at Kyle. “The one night a week my parents keep them is great, but it always goes so fast. Most nights you’ll find all four of us sleeping in one bed.”
Sam added, “And the two big ones on either end are lucky to get any covers at all.”
Eddie nodded. “That’s what usually happens with my foursomes.”
Colt tossed a pillow at him.
Alex caught Kyle’s eye, glanced at the kids and mouthed, “Sorry.”
Kyle shifted the little ones and leaned back into the sofa. “It’s ah’ite. Watch the game. Your stupid Bears might actually win one tonight.”
“Stupid Bears?” Colt laughed. “If Cutler can throw short, simple passes and get the ball out there, we’ve got a real shot at it this season.”
“If, if,” Kyle retorted. “If a frog had wings he wouldn’t bump his ass when he was hoppin’.” He glanced down at Levi, then added, “Sorry. But I’m a born and raised Cowboys fan.”
Travis shook his head. “You live in Chicago now, my friend. Time to get on board with ‘da Bears’.”
Kyle winced. “Just don’t know if I can.”
They all hooted at him.
“I’ll take it under advisement, how about that?”
“Good enough,” Travis agreed. “For as long as you live in Chicago, anyway.”
Kyle and Alex exchanged glances. For the first time, Kyle saw a spark of fear in his lover’s eyes. In all their relationship negotiations, they hadn’t discussed the fact that he wasn’t a permanent Illinois resident.
Alex suddenly looked very sad.
Kyle reached out and took his hand. He said to no one in particular, “I’ll be here a good long time. There’s lots of potential for work at the rate this city is growin’.” He squeezed Alex’s hand. “Besides, I’m really startin’ to love Chicago.”
