Busy people are boring. It’s true. If all you have to talk about in your life is how busy you are, then what are you really accomplishing? A life of rushing places and scheduling commitments sounds pretty meaningless and empty, not to mention the toll it takes on your mind, body, and spirit. It’s time to take back your life from the busyness and schedule time for what you truly want to do. That’s right—a little “me time.”
Time alone to do what you want to do is so important for mental health; it reboots your brain, improves concentration, helps you unwind, and enhances your relationships. Yet so many people put it on the back burner in favor of spreading themselves thin for the benefit of others. It’s time to take back your me time. Schedule a monthly date with yourself and then do something you want to do: get a massage, write a letter, watch your favorite TV show, take a hike, or whatever it is that makes you feel relaxed and happy.
Taking care of yourself is what will sustain you and give you the energy to take care of all the other responsibilities you have. Want to be a better worker, parent, spouse, child? Then take some time for yourself instead of spending all your time in busy tasks for others. Make time for you.
