AUTHOR’S NOTE

Before we get started, just a couple of things.

This is not a history of the Canadian music business. Why do I even bother to mention this? Well, to put it simply, just about everyone I happen to tell that I’m writing a book says, “Great, we need a history of the Canadian music business.”

That may be true, although I happen to think there are a few good ones out there, but this book isn’t a history. It’s my story, and although I’ve attempted to be as honest and accurate as possible, it remains the world of music as seen through my eyes and experience. If your favourite band is not in here, it’s because I didn’t work with them. I’m sure they’re great and there’s a book coming soon.

Also, in the music game nothing ever happens on its own. There is always a team of people involved. Agents, publicists, road crews, promoters, producers, assistants, salespeople, lawyers, accountants – the list is endless.

I’m sure they have lots of stories to tell but this isn’t their book either.

I owe them all big-time and have no real way to properly thank them beyond what I’ve expressed in the past, but, once again, “Thanks.”

Now get out there and write your own books.
