I know, I know. You wanted me to tell you who Deleilah met by the riverbank, didn’t you?
I actually wrote the next book, Deleilah, two years before this one ever tumbled onto the page. In it, I wove a thread of lies and deceit which centred around one essential jigsaw piece. Who was Leilah’s childhood sweetheart?
It becomes important for a particular reason and I won’t spoil the next book by telling you what that is. You do find out, but not yet.
I created the little town in this novel from my imagination, but anyone who travels through the New Zealand landscape will pass through many like it. It’s Waihi and Paeroa with a hint of Bulls and Raglan all rolled into one. I had to go back. The history of the four troubled teenagers called to me, wanting to tell their stories and show you, the reader where they came from and how their origins affected the people they became.
Hold onto your seat.
Before the next book ends, you’ll have your heart broken.
