WORKING CAREFULLY AND systematically, Gunter and I began to scour the Undernest server for any sign of a clue regarding the stained glass egg, or the items that had been stolen from the Grand Library. We worked our way up and down the paths of the city built among the roots of this strange world. We checked in and around the buildings and questioned the townsfolk that we encountered. Everyone we asked, both the NPCs as well as the Roblox players, gave us similar answers. No one had seen any strange items around town, and they certainly hadn't seen a dragon flying about! After a few hours of fruitless searching, we were both exhausted.
“This has been a total waste of time,” Gunter complained. “Nobody knows anything here! Jon, I think the professor sent us on a wild goose chase!”
“It's certainly looking that way. But perhaps we're just looking in the wrong places?” I pondered.
“You think so? Where else would we look though? This place is nothing more than a giant root system!” Gunter said.
We stood silently and gazed off into the distance at the other roots that writhed and twisted around us. I was beginning to lose hope when suddenly Gunter grabbed my arm excitedly.
“Jon, you're right! Look over there! On that root out beyond us!” he cried.
I looked out and sure enough, there was a large fragment of an egg, shimmering on an outcropping several hundred meters away from us!
“That piece looks like what we need to finish the egg,” I exclaimed. “But how can we reach that? I don't see a connecting bridge or ladder!”
“Someone put it there in the first place, so there must be a way!”
We both glanced around searching for some mechanism that could transport us to the far side and allow us to retrieve the egg. I saw nothing nearby of any use but Gunter suddenly had an epiphany.
“Jon! They were selling umbrellas in the market stalls! We could use those to float across!”
“Are you serious,” I exclaimed. “If we miss the ledge we'll be lost forever!”
“We can do it! Just trust me!” Gunter replied.
Without leaving any more room for discussion, Gunter bounded back to the town to purchase umbrellas. Moments later we were standing over the precipice with identical umbrellas in our hands.
“Just follow my lead,” Gunter said and stepped from the edge.
He soared gracefully towards his destination, leaving me no choice but to follow. I closed my eyes tightly and stepped out into space. The flight was much easier than I had expected. The umbrella carried me with complete ease, and moments later I was standing beside my friend. I was expecting him to be excited at having found the final egg fragment but instead, he looked very concerned.
“What's up?” I asked.
Gunter said nothing but simply handed me the final fragment. I saw written on the very top of the fragment one word: Booker.
A rising sense of dread began to build within me. I looked at my friend and saw a similar look on his face. Then, we both heard that sound which we were becoming very familiar with. It was a loud and piercing scream that echoed all across the Undernest server. I looked back over my shoulder to see that once again the dragon had appeared on this server, and it was once more headed directly for us!
