  1. As a way of trying to keep him out of trouble, Johnny’s mum bought him his first guitar at the age of 12. It cost $25.
  2. When he finally emerged from his room as a competent ‘garage rocker’, Johnny joined a band. They performed in nightclubs around Florida...
  3. ...although as he was still underage, he would have to sneak in via the back door and leave after the band’s first set!
  4. After a while the band re-named, calling themselves The Kids. Under this name they started to take off, supporting bands such as The B-52s and artists including Iggy Pop.
  5. Johnny remembers swearing at Iggy Pop... Iggy called him a “little turd” and then ignored him.
  6. In search of a record deal, The Kids headed to Los Angeles - changing their name to Six Gun Method.
  7. Johnny collaborated with Rock City Angels (who were signed to David Geffen’s label) and co-wrote Mary.
  8. This song is featured on their debut album under a different title: Young Man’s Blues.
  9. Johnny also played side guitar on the Oasis song Fade In-Out.
  10. Johnny features on the soundtrack of Once Upon a Time in Mexico. Track nine - Sands (Theme) - is credited to Tonto’s Giant Nuts but was in fact written by Johnny who thought up the name as a joke.
