Practical Magick
There are numerous methods of practical magick, the art of making things happen and getting things done. Each of us will have preferences and techniques that work better than others, for us. Here are three examples of techniques that can be easily adapted to cannabis magick.
Sigils
Sigils are simple (or not so simple) drawings that encapsulate and symbolize a more complex outcome or goal. The sigil itself is a kind of anchor that connects your present experience to a state, a behavior, or an outcome. There are a variety of different ways to generate sigils, discussed at length in other books on magick or easily found on the internet. Two simple methods are included here and if you know or prefer other methods, use the one you feel most comfortable with.
Smokin’ Sigils
1. Sigil Method #1: Write out a short statement of what you will create a sigil to accomplish. For instance, “Making Money.” Then eliminate vowels: M, K, N, G, and M, N, Y. Then eliminate any duplicate letters: M, K, N, G, Y. Then be creative and combine the letters into a single symbol. An easy and simplified version is on the top, and a more stylized version is on the bottom. Be as creative as you can.

2. Sigil Method #2 (If you don’t like playing with letters): Think about how it will feel to have the outcome you desire. For instance, if your outcome is making money, imagine holding a check for a large sum, seeing amounts accruing in your bank balance, or however you choose to imagine it, and notice how this feels. Notice wherever you have that feeling in your body and give it a color or colors, as in previous exercises. Take a good look in your mind at that shape in your body and sketch the general outlines on paper. That sketch, representing the feeling in your body, can be used in place of a letter sigil.
3. Place the drawn sigil or sketch on your altar (or, generally, in front of you). Take a big toke and exhale the smoke into the sigil, imagining it absorbing the energy of your breath and becoming charged by it.
Smoking Sigils
1. Create a sigil. If you’d like, you can create it initially on a piece of rolling paper or, once created, redraw it on rolling paper and charge it in whatever way you find useful.
2. Roll a joint with the sigilized paper.
3. Smoke the joint, releasing the intent and outcome to the universe in the smoke that you exhale and the smoke that rises from the end of the joint.
4. Notice, over the next day or so, indications that your outcome has been accepted by the universe.
Enlisting the Plant Spirit
In a few magical systems, manifestation magick is accomplished through an intermediary entity. In effect, we’re already working via the cannabis plant spirit in most of these exercises, though we can do it more directly and consciously.
Plant Spirit Manifestation
1. Decide on an outcome, what you would like to have happen. This can be almost anything, although it is often more effective if you can imagine what the path to that outcome may be. That is, you can decide to make money, but it is more effective to include how you will make money and whatever actions or steps you will take. It is also helpful to frame the outcome as a positive. That is, instead of what you don’t want (“I don’t want to be hungry”), you can delineate what you do want (“I want an excellent meal in a good restaurant”).
2. Create a space to work in and banish.
3. Contact the cannabis plant spirit using the method described in the chapter on entities.
4. Breath into the entity and ask if it will help you manifest your outcome. If the answer is yes, continue on. If the answer is no, ask what is necessary for the entity to help you. Fulfill those requirements if they are agreeable to you.
5. Imagine as many details of your outcome as you can. See it, hear it, feel it, taste it, smell it. As you imagine each detail, give it to the plant spirit.
6. Breathe into the entity and ask it to release the details of your outcome to all the parts of the universe necessary and appropriate to make it manifest as you’ve imagined it.
7. Observe as the entity releases the details to the universe. Notice any changes in the entity and any feelings that you may have.
8. Ask the entity if the outcome has been accepted by the universe. If yes, continue; if no, ask what will be necessary for it to be accepted.
9. Ask the entity to thank the universe for you. Then thank the entity.
10. Reabsorb the entity and any imaginings still external to you.
