One of the great fictional Louisianians of all time, Blanche DuBois, said famously that she always depended on the kindness of strangers. This real Louisianian has always depended on the kindness of friends.
More friends than I can possibly name here contributed their time, energy, intelligence, and insight to this book. To try to recognize all of you would inevitably mean that I would slight one of you, and that is something I never want to do.
