Bavarian Christmas Bread

Try this easy and delicious German traditional recipe.

Preparation time: 15 minutes

Cooking time: 3 hours

Servings: 16

Ingredients:

3 cups of bread flour

½ cup of dried plums, snipped, pitted

¼ cup of water

1/3 cup of chopped hazelnuts

2/3 cup of powdered sugar, optional

¾ cup of milk

2 tablespoons of sugar

2 tablespoons of butter or margarine, cut up

1 tablespoon of milk or kirsch

1 teaspoon of bread machine yeast or active dry yeast

½ teaspoon of ground mace

½ teaspoon of vanilla, optional

¼ teaspoon of ground cardamom

¾ teaspoon of salt

Directions:

1. Add all the ingredients to your bread machine pan according to the order suggested by the manufacturer.

2. Select Basic White Bread cycle and press start.
