Dear Mrs. Machuchi,

I have enclosed Lorraine’s January 3rd poetry assignment, as I think it may shed some light on Lorraine’s recent daydreaming and the severe drop in her marks. If I may a caveat though, she does have an excellent grasp on language arts and the rhyming schemes we covered in class. And she has great hair.

Yours truly,

Mrs. Fontana

Mrs. Fontana’s Class

Brooklyn

There once was a girl named Lorraine

A boy called Tommy drove her insane.

She’d ask him questions he’d pretend not to hear,

Still she’d want to kiss him on the ear.

Chrissy’d tell him to go away,

She’d say, “Lorraine he did the same thing yesterday!”

But Lorraine could see only hearts in her eyes

And say to Chrissy who wasn’t surprised,

“So put down those stones you plan to throw!

Or he may not come back for more tomorrow!”
