Melanie Harris (Mel): At the same time as I was looking into the corruption charges against Mel, I was also investigating her family. I got a break when her younger brother, Chris, a stockbroker in London, agreed to talk to me over the phone. I told him I was an old friend of Mel’s keen to contact her again.
Our conversation started with a warning from him. He told me getting in touch with Mel wasn’t a good idea. He said she was bad news and that no one in the family spoke to her any more. He said the only family member who ever liked her was Rose, her maternal grandmother, but Rose was long dead.
