Abigail R. Gehring has enjoyed cooking and experimenting in the kitchen since she was a child. In college, she assisted food writer and cookbook author Nina Simonds, who taught her how to properly chop ginger and garlic and filled her head with exciting notions of a life peppered with food writing and travel.
Now Abigail edits cookbooks and manages the art and production departments at Skyhorse Publishing, based in New York City. She is the author of more than a dozen books on cooking and country living skills. Since going gluten-free for health reasons in 2009, she has turned her focus to healthy gluten-free cooking.
Food photography is a more recent passion of Abigail’s. With help from her husband, Tim Lawrence, she’s had a wonderful time learning her way around a camera.
Abigail can’t remember a time that she’s followed a recipe exactly, except when she’s testing her own for a cookbook. She lives in Marlboro, Vermont.
