There’s no need to purl when you work stockinette stitch in the round— and no need to sew seams, either. These leg warmers are perfect for yoga or for filling in the chilly gaps at the tops of your boots.
ESTIMATED TIME TO COMPLETE
The leg warmers took 4 hours each to make—a total of 8 hours for the pair.
SIZE
Circumference: 12 in. (30.5 cm); length: approx. 16 in. (40.5 cm).
YOU WILL NEED
• 2 x 50 g balls (approx. 3½ oz.) of Regia Multi-Color 6-ply in Passion, shade 0540
• Set of size US 5 (3¾ mm) double-pointed needles
GAUGE
22 sts and 30 rows to 4 in. (10 cm) over st-st on size US 5 (3¾ mm) needles. Change needle size, if necessary, to obtain this gauge.
ABBREVIATIONS
k = knit; st(s) = stitch(es); st-st = stockinette st.
NOTE
• If using four double-pointed needles, arrange 22 sts on each of 3 needles and knit with the fourth needle. If your set has 5 needles put 16 sts on each of 2 needles and 17 stitches on each of 2 more needles, knit with the fifth needle.
LEG WARMERS
Cast on 22 sts on each of 3 needles. Taking care not to twist sts on the needles, join in a round and k every round for st-st until almost all of one ball of yarn has been used. Bind off. Repeat for second leg warmer. Weave in yarn ends.
ABOUT THIS YARN
Regia 6-ply is a hard-wearing DK-weight 75% wool, 25% polyamide yarn, which has approximately 136 yds. (125 m) to a 50 g (approx. 1¾ oz.) ball. It is dyed in bursts of color to give a random, striped effect.
TIPS
• These leg warmers are very stretchy, so you can pull them up or push them down to wear them however you want.
• If the second ball of yarn, for the second leg warmer, doesn’t start in the same place in the color sequence as the first ball, wind off the yarn until you get to the right color, then add the spare yarn at the top, so the stripes of color match.
• If you prefer, you could knit the leg warmers using a short circular needle.
Stripes appear like magic as you knit these fun leg warmers.
