Chapter 24

RESTLESS, ALEXIS WALKED outside to get some fresh air.  Maybe a nice walk would help ease her mind.  Lately, she’d had strange dreams.  Some mornings she swore it was as if she hadn’t slept at all.

As she walked by the riverbank, a sudden gust of cold wind blew over her.  She wrapped her arms around herself to ward off the chill.  She looked out over the river.

As she headed back towards the house, she stopped and listened intently.  She thought she heard something behind her.  She looked around and shook off the eerie feeling of being watched.  Then a movement in the woods caught her eye and panic took over.  Was someone out there?  No, that couldn’t be possible.  It had to be a woodland creature, probably a deer roaming the woods.

She took in a deep breath and tried to calm her nerves.  She was being silly.  No one was lurking about.  Why would someone want to come onto the property?  She was letting those questions the private investigator asked her scare her.

She couldn’t imagine Dominic being involved with any missing girls.  He had been taught to respect women, and he would never harm a female.  He was too gentle and loving with her to do something as monstrous as what the private investigator suggested.

AS BIANCA WATCHED ALEXIS walk along the riverbank, something dark and sinister came over her.  If only she could confront her with the things she did with her husband.  Bianca had to bite her tongue to keep from calling out to Alexis.  She had played this scene out in her head so many times, but instead of doing anything that could harm her relationship with Dominic, Bianca watched as Alexis gazed out into the water.

Jealousy filled every pore in Bianca’s body.  Alexis always seemed to dress to perfection, and her clothes fit her like a glove.  Bianca understood why Dominic had to marry this woman, but that didn’t help with the jealous feelings that took over Bianca every time she saw the woman.

This woman would be in the shop tomorrow for a reading.  She considered telling her that she suspected her husband was cheating on her, but that would only upset HIM and she did not want that.

AFTER EATING DINNER, Alexis headed to their bedroom to get ready for Dominic to come home.  While out earlier today, she’d picked up a new nightgown and wanted to see what he thought of it.  She took a nice warm bubble bath and slipped into her new nightgown.  It was an emerald green that matched her eyes to perfection.

The fitted bodice showed off her voluptuous breasts.  The lustrous fabric was finely cut and flattering to her figure.  She paid more for it than she had ever even paid for a dress, but as soon as she saw it, she had to have it; besides, Dominic could afford it.

She stepped in front of the mirror and turned in several directions to make sure that the gown flattered her as much as she thought it did in the shop.  She felt outrageously sexy in the outfit and couldn’t wait for Dominic to get home.

As soon as Dominic walked into the bedroom, she saw the desire in his eyes.  “Cher you look exquisite.”

Alexis needed no further prompting; she ran into his waiting arms.  “I wanted to look nice for you.”

Nibbling on her ear, he whispered, “I love the nightgown, but you look better out of it.”

He pulled her to him and lifted her mouth to his.  He flicked his tongue over her teeth before deepening his kiss.  She slid her body against his.  Her body was assaulted with electrical pulsations throughout as his hands roamed over it.

She slipped her hands under his shirt and ran them over the expanse of his back.  He cupped her bottom and pulled her tight against his body.

As her nightgown fell to the floor, he brushed a thumb over the peak of her breast.  She instinctively arched into him as desire built inside of her.

His clothes came off with ease as he carried her off to the bed.  He lowered his head and took a nipple into his mouth while caressing her other breast.  Incredible sensations exploded like fireworks in her body as his mouth traveled over it.

He continued to massage the most sensitive of her parts until the pleasure turned to swells of tortuous bliss.  He carried her higher and higher until she convulsed against his hand.  At the peak of her orgasm, he thrust deep inside of her, taking her to another plane of complete stimulation.

She grasped his powerful hips to bring him deeper inside of her.  He kissed her with such passion; his tongue plunged into her mouth as he took her harder.  They took complete pleasure as each stroke brought on another tremor of an orgasm.  As she cried out his name and shuddered against him, she felt Dominic thrust deep inside of her and find his release as well.

NO SOONER THAN ALEXIS had left the shop, her mysterious visitor from the other day walked into the store.  Could he be following Alexis?  If so, why?

This man was breathtakingly handsome with skin the color of warm caramel, a chiseled jaw and the most mesmerizing eyes.  Her grandmother would have called them voodoo eyes since they changed with the mood.  He screamed danger as well.  This man may be what she needed to get Dominic jealous.

Bianca tucked a strand of her unruly hair behind her ear and looked directly into the man’s eyes, “Is there something I can help you with today?”

Could this man be one of Dominic’s new enemies?  Why was he trying to gather information?  Could he be a voodoo priest sizing up the competition?  Did he know what she had been up to and come to confront her?  She shook her head and dismissed that thought.  Why would he come in here?  No one knew that she secretly worked for the Mafia Prince.

He approached her with an outstretched hand, “Bonjour, my name is Guy Mayon.  Would you take a look at a picture and tell me if you have seen this girl?”

Bianca took the picture and looked at it.  She tried to hide any emotion.  If this man were asking about this girl, it could mean trouble for them, “I see so many people that I am honestly not sure.  Is she missing or something?”

He took the picture from Bianca, “Her bank statement showed that she had purchased something from your store the day before she went missing, and I am just trying to trace her last steps.”

Bianca shook her head, “I really do wish I could help you, but like I said, so many people come in and out of here that I can’t keep track of their faces.”

He pulled out a business card and handed it to her, “Well, if you happen to remember anything, please call me.  Her family is concerned about her, and they have asked that I help find her for them.”

Bianca wet her lips and stared at the business card.  This man was a private investigator.  If he did start to cause them trouble it should be easy enough to get rid of him.
