BRIAN WALKED INTO HIS Boss’s office; unsure of why he was summoned. Usually, when his Boss had a job, he just sent him the instructions, but this time, he was told to come in.
“Brian, I have a job for you and I don’t want you to collect dough. It isn’t a job for the cleaner either. I want this man brought in alive for a special project. Can you do that?”
“Of course, Boss.”
Brian cringed as a slow smile formed across his Boss’s face, “I have something special planned for this man. I need him alive for questioning, and once we have what we want, he will be tended to. Bianca has special plans for him, and I want her to be able to carry them out.”
“No problem.”
His Boss warned him, “Just be careful; this guy is good at avoiding us but no more. It is time he pays up. When you capture him, he is liable to kill himself just to avoid what is to come.”

EVERYTHING SEEMED TO happen in fast motion. He told himself that he should drop to the ground and accept the unavoidable - his death was near.
He heard the gun fire and felt the bullet enter his body. He stumbled backwards from the impact. The blood slowly colored his shirt in a flower like pattern.
The bullet made a cruel path through his body, shattering bone as it exited. He waited for the pain that was sure to follow such an invasion to his body. As he fell to the ground, a coldness washed over him. He tried to draw a breath, but he could barely gasp as darkness invaded his world. In under a minute, his life came to an end. His blood spilled from his body and covered the ground.
If only he could call out and beg for someone to help him. He felt his body being lifted and wondered if someone was here to help him. Blood shot from his mouth as he gurgled and gasped. He felt his body being thrown into the air. Water washed over him.
His forty years of life had come to this. No one would ever know what happened to him. As his body sank to the bottom of the mighty Mississippi River, he slipped into eternal darkness.

BRIAN DONOVAN LOOKED down at the body of his latest hit and shook his head. He’d worked as an enforcer for The Family almost five years now, collecting debts owed as well as other jobs. One day he hoped to make rank as a cleaner. The cleaner’s only job was to take out people ordered by their Boss. Brian still had been unable to figure out who was the current cleaner.
This whole mess could have been prevented, but instead, the babbo (idiot) had to run. As he hoisted the body over his shoulder, he noticed how eerie the victim’s blood looked on the sidewalk. He had to hide the large spot to keep it from being noticed. Not too far away, he spotted a bag of trash. He drug it over to hide the spot for now. He kept a few bottles of bleach in his trunk for circumstances just like this. If all went well, he should have time to cover his tracks before anyone woke up.
On his way back to his car, Brian pulled out a cigarette and surveyed the area. He made sure that there weren’t any witnesses lurking about. The Mafia Prince had half the police force working for him, but Brian didn’t want to take any chances.
As Brian dropped the body into the car, he jumped when the body twitched. He chuckled when he realized it was just a response from the dead man’s nervous system. Brian snuffed out his cigarette and flicked it on to the dead man. No sense in leaving behind any trace evidence, one could never be too careful nowadays.
He pulled out a bottle of bleach and made his way back to the murder scene. He hid in the shadows to keep from being noticed.
Next he had to dispose of the body. There was a bend in the river where the current would take the victim far from here. He tossed Andrew Hauffman into the water, and watched as the body sank into the murky water of the Mississippi River. He had killed numerous people, and it never ceased to amaze him how one minute you were here and the next minute you ceased to exist.
The Mafia Prince had given Brian specific instructions to bring Andrew Hauffman in for the voodoo woman to perform black magic on him. Brian did not expect Andrew to run; he had no choice but to fire the gun. Thankfully, the gun was equipped with a silencer so no one heard a gunshot, although he doubted anyone would even blink at the sound of a gunshot around here. Crime in New Orleans was back to an all time high.
Brian sure hoped that his Boss wasn’t too upset about the fact that he shot Andrew Hauffman. The man was a joke and a wimp for even running from his fate. He should have expected this would happen to him. You don’t borrow dough from the Mafia Price and expect not to pay it back. He was informed of the rules regarding repayment before entering into this business relationship just like everyone else.
