Balanced Budget Cracker Candy

Just because something is cheap to make doesn’t mean it can’t be delicious.

35 saltine crackers

1 cup butter

1 cup firmly packed brown sugar

1 (11-ounce) package milk chocolate chips

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Place the crackers side by side on a foil-lined 10 × 15-inch baking pan. Combine the butter and brown sugar in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil. Cook for 3 minutes, stirring constantly. Spread the mixture over the crackers. Bake for 5 minutes.

Sprinkle the chocolate chips over the baked crackers. Let stand for 5 minutes. Once the chips have melted, spread the melted chocolate over the top. Chill in the refrigerator until firm. Remove from the pan and break into pieces. Store in an airtight container.

Makes 24 servings.
