Chocolate Banana Pudding

Some banana pudding traditionalists may scoff at the addition of chocolate pudding, but this is very tasty.

16 to 20 chocolate wafers

1 (3.4-ounce) package banana cream instant pudding and pie filling mix

3½ cups milk, divided

1 large banana, sliced

1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, softened

¼ cup sugar

1 (8-ounce) container frozen whipped topping, thawed

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 (3.4-ounce) package chocolate instant pudding and pie filling mix

Line the bottom of a 9 × 9-inch baking dish with the chocolate waters. Prepare the banana cream pudding mix using 1 ½ cups milk. Mix according to package directions. Fold in the banana. Spoon the mixture over the chocolate wafers.

Beat the cream cheese and sugar until blended. Fold in the whipped topping and vanilla extract. Spread the cream cheese mixture over the banana layer. Cover and refrigerate for 1 hour.

Prepare the chocolate pudding mix according to package directions, using the remaining 2 cups of milk. Pour the pudding over the cream cheese layer. Cover and place in the refrigerator 2 hours before serving.

Makes 8 servings.
