After the Jeep pulled away from the house, Dylan and Christine walked outside toward the lagoon and sat down on the bench that was situated near the water. While gazing westward and admiring the sunset across the bay, they noticed a large turtle silently swimming near the dock.
Looking at the water, Dylan quietly said, “Look at that beautiful turtle. It’s so cool, calm, and collected.”
Christine squeezed her husband’s hand and responded, “You’re so right, Dylan. Ever since we moved here, these wonderful and peaceful creatures have always had such a calming effect on me.”
Dylan fondly reflected back to the summer of 1945, when, as newlyweds, he and Christine witnessed thousands of turtles roaming the island in the aftermath of the horrible storm.
After a long pause, Dylan hugged his wife and said, “They truly are cooler by the mile.”
