Joanne Mattern has never been very good at playing sports, but she has always loved watching them and cheering for her favorite teams. She has been a big baseball fan for most of her life and in later years has learned to love football, hockey, lacrosse, and other sports as well. Joanne is the author of hundreds of books for children, including many sports biographies and books about sports. She lives in New York State with her husband, also an avid sports fan, three daughters who don’t like sports at all, and a son who plays lacrosse and whose idea of a great vacation is a trip to the Baseball Hall of Fame.
